A Light Extinguished: Mourning a Child of Promise

The heart of Kansas City, Missouri, is shattered by the shocking and utterly unexpected passing of 14-year-old Mallory Aven Kobolt. Our beloved Mallory, who passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, was a fiercely loyal, bright, and determined young girl whose vibrant light was extinguished far too soon. The sudden, devastating void left by a child who was just beginning her journey into adulthood is a trauma that has deeply wounded her family, friends, and entire community.

The Agonizing Silence: A Cry for Compassion

Mallory Aven Kobolt was unforgettable. With her amazing smile, signature curly hair, and bubbly personality, she was an aerial artist with incredible strength and grace who found immense joy high in the air. She was beautifully kind, fiercely stubborn, and driven by deep, ever-changing passionsโ€”from dragons and geckos to crocheting and concert tees. For her parents, Justin and Lindsay, and her brother, Carson, the anguish is compounded by the unjust and cruel suddenness of her death. Malloryโ€™s passing forces the entire community to confront the urgent, painful truth that beneath the surface of a bright, seemingly brave persona, deep anguish can exist. We are called to look beyond appearances and commit to radical compassion.

An Anchor in Love: Carrying Forward Malloryโ€™s Spirit

In the face of this catastrophic loss, the community’s focus must be on wrapping the Kobolt family in unwavering support. The family invites friends to a Celebration of Life, asking guests to represent Mallory’s unique, vibrant spirit by wearing the color pink, pajama pants, or concert t-shirts. To honor her memory is to commit to her spirit: to be brave, bright, funny, and utterly your own person. May the profound love of the Kansas City community serve as an essential anchor, providing solace and strength to the Kobolt family. And may we all be reminded that help is available 24/7 through the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, ensuring no other child in our community struggles in silence.
